baby girl is here updated with story and more pics

Lucia Fidencia
10-9-11 8lbs 7oz 3rd vbac.

I had been having contractions for a few days in the evenings that would always go away. So saturday morning I decided to try castor oil. My last baby was 8lbs 15oz at 42 weeks and he had tough delivery so I was wanting to get things going before the baby got super big. I took the castor oil and nothing happened. Except a few bathroom trips. DH and I went to a used furniture store and walked around. Got us and the kids a tv stand. Went and had lunch and came home. Still nothing. I was having some cramps and a few contractions here and there but nothing timeable. I really thought the castor oil had done nothing. Then I started having contractions that we're around 3 min apart and lasting about 45 seconds. We went on a walk to see if I could get them to last longer and be closer together. After the walk they we're about 1-2 min apart and over a minute. I decided to get my last minute things together. We decided to head towards the hospital (an hour drive) and get checked out. We got there and they put me in L&D triage. Monitors we're picking up the contractions. Midwife showed up and checked me and my cervix was only a 2.5-3. She said sorry your not in labor. I was disappointed because the kids we're excited and we had drove all that way. SO we decided to walk the halls and let her check me in another hour. Started walking and about 20 min later I felt a trickle of water down my legs. Told her I thought my water broke. She was not very confident and tested it. Sure enough it was my water. At that point she couldn't let me go home. They put me in a room around 11pm and we kind of talked about what if's. We gave it the night to see if things would pick up. Nothing changed. I was not comfortable with my water being broken for more then 24 hours because my last baby was born with an infection so we decided to start pitocin. We started at a 2 and they bumped it up here and there. After a few hours the contractions we're coming every minute with no break between them. The monitors would not stay put unless I was in bed on my back. The pitocin had been bumped up to a ten and I opted for the epidural. Got some rest and eventually ready to push. After a few pushes Lucia was born. She went strait to my chest. Just what I wanted. I lost 1,100 ccs of blood. So postpartum hemorage. They couldn't figure out what it was caused by. They think the placenta started seperating too soon. So my possible second partial placental abruption. We stayed 24 hours after birth and came home.

the hospital was very hands off..just what I wanted. this was my first baby I got to hold directly after birth which is just what I wanted. She never left my site except to go with daddy to get a bath and a hearing test. I got to nurse her right away. still working on her latch she doesn't like to open her mouth very wide.
