I agree with the PP- that is a great site. If you just make a few batches and freeze in small portions (we used Baby Cubes), it doesn't really take a ton of work as they don't really eat that much early on. I found the blender and the food processor both worked fine if you already have on of those.

Avocadoes and Bananas are super easy since you don't even have to cook them first.

It's pretty easy. I usually give DS something we are eating and just blend it in the bullet. Add breastmilk to make it thinner if you need or cereal to make it thicker. Both my kiddos have preferred more paste-like consistency (fine with me! It's less messy!) That is a helpful website! And don't be afraid to be creative when you get to mixing foods. I've done things like banana and sweet potato or yogurt, acorn squash and apple. Even Potato, sour cream and carrots - but that's after you've gone through the individually offered foods.

There's also the Baby Lead Weaning technique where you skip purees and offer them mushy food and allow them to feed themselves. Personally, I start with purees and then within a few months move to mushy chunks. ;D

If what I'm eating is mashable with a fork I go that route. I also bake a smallish pumpkin (cut in half, place cut sides down on cookie sheet, bake until very tender) and keep one half in the fridge and freeze the other in cubes or chunks. Bananas, mangoes, avocados, etc are great for just smashing with a fork. Also throw a few potatoes in the oven (about an hour or so) and then mash them up.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I HATE slaving over baby food, but I refuse to pay for the store bought stuff!
