Long Hair on Boys

How do you style it? Keep it out of their eyes etc. My 4.5 year old is growing his hair out but it drives me crazy to see it in his eyes all the time.

This is our most recent family picture with his hair. That morning I swept it off to the side and sprayed with hairspray but it didn't hold. Should I just cut the front maybe?

I like something like this but not realistic as an all day thing.


He doesn't like hats or anything on his head so that's out.

I'm not much help. My 2.5 year old has curly hair, except the front! So his bangs are so straight. I'm just waiting for them to grow enough that they will rest on the side. I'll try to take a picture in the morning.

My mom got him ready for church on Sunday and I was impressed that it was staying on the side. I found out that night that she used a little hairspray. It did the job for a few hours though. Maybe try some different lightweight products?

Yeah, I dunno where they get the curly backs & straight as arrows fronts(although my oldest's is WAY straighter!). I mean, look at those curls!!



And the red on my youngest...that was a surprise!!! Good thing he looks like my hubby in the face or else peeps would be talkin'!

Everyone has such adorable kidos! I'm glad to know we aren't alone with our wild boy hair.

The simple answer is that I don't. I push it out of his eyes and tuck it behind his ears 4,722+ times per day and he is constantly pushing it out of his eyes. I have tried hair gel and it doesn't work, water doesn't work and he is so tender-headed that he won't let me try to pull it into a ponytail and won't wear hair clips or headbands/ bandanas. He also takes out hair clips, so I'm out of ideas other than hoping he lets me put it up when he gets older.

I just keep the front part trimmed above his eyes. He's 3 and a few months and we've been growing it out for 11 months.

IT may not be the popular option but I use flat clips to train my kids hair.



Tharen's hair is actually short but he keeps the bangs long like mine (Oi) but as he was growing it into this style from a mohawk I had to train his bangs to part in the middle instead of just hanging straight down into his eyes. I did it using these little flat clips. He loves the clips so much that even now that his bangs are long and can tuck behind his ears he still wears them pretty frequently and I sometimes buy interesting ones for him (like with spiders on them). They come in just plain black or silver too.

I can't remember what I did with either of their hair when they were little babies other than top knots but the last time Kearnan was growing his hair back out from a really bad hair cut I used these same clips in it to train it to part in the middle again. I also will use a little pomade in the bangs to help them part sometimes when they hit the shaggy phase. Tharen now tells me he is going to grow his hair out long again and I have no idea how we will handle it. I guess I will leave his bangs long so at least those won't be in his face.
