Fort mac <3 that's where I grew up. I'm in Calgary now.

She's in her final year of midwifery school so I believe she charges more because of that. I interviewed several people and she was the one I felt the most comfortable with. So that's worth the extra cost.

That's exactly how I do it . I'm on the lower end compared to other doulas in SoCal. The average between the doulas I personally know is 700/800 but I also know some who charge 1500 & 1800. SoCal is a high cost area and expenses with running a doula business can be insane.

Wow! I am working on my certification through doula and wish I had more pregnant ladies around! I was looking to charge $200 at most while training (mostly gas and parking expenses). I am expecting my 3rd soon but hope to attend some births after. I think experience is important but compatibility between family (mom) and doula is most important.

I agree! Just because a doula has attended 200 births doesn't mean she's a good doula/fit for every mom.
