Nursing to fall asleep

Help! My 5 month old will only fall asleep if I nurse him. How can i teach him to fall asleep in other ways and with other people? He won't take a pacifier!

Re: Nursing to fall asleep

No help here. My 9 month old still nurses to sleep. If there's nothing else wrong, sometimes she will let other rock her to sleep, but not often....

No help here either. DS is 5 months and currently napping on the boppy latched on. Just know that it is very common. If you figure it out, let me know!

Re: Nursing to fall asleep

I've decided her sleep is more important at the moment, and I will deal with that issue later. I know some will disagree with me, but it's just so easy to nurse her to sleep! For my DD, when she's tired, the whole nursing, unlatching, laying down routine takes 20 minutes or less!

My daughter will turn one in less then 2 weeks and still needs to be nursed to sleep for every nap and bed time. However this is only if I am around. If I'm not there she'll let daddy or grandma and grandpa rock her to sleep.

I used Elizabeth Pantley's Pull Off Method with great success when DD was about 9 months. It also helped exceptionally when I night weaned her around her 1st birthday.

Re: Nursing to fall asleep

We nurse to sleep for every nap and at night... If it works, why not? (If he isn't hungry, Daddy can put him back to sleep but only after I've put him down by nursing ) It doesn't bother me. I was reading in the book "The No Cry Sleep Solution" some suggestions to avoid this but I didn't pay much attention b/c I don't mind that this is how we do it... Maybe you could get a copy of the book? It sounded like some good ideas... GL Mama!

LoL my 18month old does that and my daughter did it till she weaned at 34months IMO they don't stay at this stage for ever and soon enough you won't be able to GET snuggle time.
