I have taken 1 bag to donation so far! I take them to a second hand shop in the town I work at. The shop is ran by a home for adults who are not able to care for themselves. The residents work there sorting clothes and sometimes helping people with bags and things like that. They also accept some recyclable items and the residents help sort them. The money goes back to help the home with expenses.

I'm focusing on the upstairs bathroom and my son's room the next two days. My mother is arriving in another few weeks to stay until after Christmas. I have to get his room under control.

1) Get every donation box out of here! I've got 2-3 boxes that have been hanging around waiting for me to sell them. It's just not worth it right now.

2) The hall closet. It houses our craft supplies, books, movies, puzzles, games, sewing supplies, scrapbooks and gifting items- like bags & ribbons. I would like to organize and purge so the kids' school papers and Christmas gift tub also fits in the closet.

Re: Working towards a Minimalist Lifestyle via Lists: Week 10/31 to 11/6

I've not done this before and I doubt I will ever be a minimalist but I definitely need some decluttering and organization here! We moved last May and things are still trying to find a good spot to live. I had my last house pretty much just how I wanted it but I'm not having as much luck at this new house.

1. I need to organize and take a food inventory of my fridge/freezer and dry goods. I did the canned goods today. I need to get back to meal planning.

2. I should purge some more of the kids' clothes too. I also did some of this today but need to finish up.

3. Purge the diapers. My oldest son is only wearing diapers for night, nap, and sometimes when we go out. My youngest is way beyond that newbie pee all the time stage so I don't need nearly as many diapers as I have but I am having a hard time of letting them go.

Thanks for reading!

Re: Working towards a Minimalist Lifestyle via Lists: Week 10/31 to 11/6

I didn't post my list but I got some things done that were on my paper list...

I gave away my wedding dress. The girl I gave it to was so excited she cried. Made me feel great about giving it away!

DH and I condensed donations that were scattered throughout the house in different boxes, the back of my SUV is full with four more boxes waiting by the door, hoping I can do a drop off this weekend

I went through all the baby clothes still in storage and purged a *ton* while I was getting out YDD's current size. We're getting rid of her stuff as she outgrows it and saving much much less of the stuff ODD's growing out of. I figure thrift shops and garage sales are always packed with kids clothes and my family won't quit buying (*sigh*)

Have buyers coming to get both ODD's old bedding sets this weekend (!!)

We've actually gotten a lot done lately, I'm really happy with it
