Can I make non-skid fabric?

I found a great tut on baby booties and I am wanting to use non-skid soles, but don't have any non-skid fabric on hand (and the craft store is far).... any ideas on what I can use to make my own? I have added dots of hot glue to the bottom of an older pair and it didn't provide much traction (and was like tap shoes ), I thought of puffy paint (although I would have to go to the store for that too). Any ideas crafty mamas???

I have always heard puffy paint. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Do you have any old leather or suede things you can cut to use?

I saw an idea to use caulk to make rugs nonskid. I think that would work if you could do a really fine bead with it.

Re: Can I make non-skid fabric?

i've used fabric puff paint on the bottom of fleece slippers. Just apply in even increments in a straight line on the bottom like the store bought stuff.

I agree with the fabric puff paint; I've heard it works really well if you're not able to buy any non-skid fabric.

Shelf liner. I want to knit some slippers and have been researching what to use for bottoms and shelf liner seems to work well.

Re: Can I make non-skid fabric?

I know a mama who cut up old rubber gloves to stitch to the bottom of her toddler's slippers. It worked really well!
