You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means...

My youngest is about 3.5, and whenever she's hungry she asks for a grilled cheese. But every time I make her one she flips out and tells me that it isn't a grilled cheese. I have no idea what she thinks a grilled cheese is. I've made her quesadillas. Nope. I've given her just cheese. Nope. Melted on crackers. Nope.

For breakfast this morning I gave her some choices, and she told me no, she wants grilled cheese.

Ya my son gets things mixed up a lot too. It can be very frustrating! He is 2 1/2. Right now he just constantly says "sorry mommy" when something hurts.....weird but at least it is cute LOL

My ds almost 3.5 yo, always talks about going to the yellow playground. My dh and I still don't know where this playground is. We have a blue one near our home & he calls that the blue playground. We are still searching for the yellow one. He has told me it is on his side of the car when we drive by, yeah that helps! =)

My dd kept asking for a grilled cheese this weekend. When I made her one she said " I didn't want bread on it!" Really, how do you make one without bread?

Very cute! I love the way their little minds works. My son used to say things like that (and still does occassionally). He mostly just uses words incorrectly. Right now, for example, he says "expensive" for everything. "You can't have candy before dinner, Mommy. That would be very expensive" while shaking his head disapprovingly at me.

Have you asked her to help you make it? Then you can find out what she is thinking grilled cheese is.

I don;t know how you make it without bread either. When I make one for her, she starts yelling at me that she didn't want a sandwich. Okie dokie. Grilled cheese, but not a sandwich.

She has global developmental delays, so she doesn't have the ability to do that yet. I just think it's silly and cute.

Re: You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means...

I ask my kids a lot "can you show me?" This has worked wonders with our 2.5 year old son. His older sister (just 17 months older) tends to talk for him a lot (she was an early and prolific talker!), and so we have to remind her to be quiet while my son tells or shows us what he wants.
Good luck!

My 4 year old complains of headaches when her stomach hurts. I've tried explaining a stomachache vs headache, but nope, she thinks I'm crazy!
