My DS self weaned at about 11 mos 3 weeks and it broke my heart. Now, he may ask to nurse once every 3 or 4 days and only nurses one side for about 2-3 seconds. I expected to nurse in some capacity until 2.5 years so, yeah, I understand how sad that can be :-(

there's a good chance she's not weaning, but it is still sad the first time they choose against you. just keep offering and snuggling and take things as they come mama

I would be bummed about this, too, mama, for it is a bittersweet moment.

I agree, don't give up on BFing yet!!!

BTW, ammcmaho, I really like your avatar:

It brings me back to the days after my LO's birth when the nurses in the hospital were telling me not to allow my LO to use me as a pacifier. What nonsense!

Awwww, makes me sad just thinking about it! I've got a while though. That's great that you've been able to do it so long!

i hate when people say "oh they're going to use you as a pacifier... and then i think, hmm, what's that definition of pacifier again?.... oh let's see to pacify!
