Suggestions for "something big"
My SIL and brother are apparently wanting to buy us "something big" for the new baby - her words. We were chatting about how DH's overtime is going to buy us the crib we need for the baby.. and she said "well Craig (my brother) and I have already decided we want to buy you guys something big for the baby since we really didn't buy much for Nolan"
So what do I suggest!? With DS my brother was single but he bought him the rainforest jumperoo so that was $80... I'm assuming that wasn't big enough? Gimme ideas! I'm leaning towards a new swing as the one I have sucks batteries and I'd love a plug in one - but which one? Other ideas?

Do you need a car seat? That is the single biggest expense we have to prepare for this baby (the one we want is $200) and I would be over the moon if someone bought it for us.
Will you want/need a double/new stroller? A new high chair? I hear the Tripp Trapp is nice but I'd never fork over my own money for that. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Why don't you have them buy the crib?? Car seat is another good idea as they're both items you're sure to use and will be used for more than a month or two. What about a matching dresser to your crib or a rocking chair for nursing?

Re: Suggestions for "something big"
Let's see; I have a PnP... I have a high chair...
DH is really into buying what baby "needs" not what I want - so he's going to buy the crib and the convert. car seat but if I said I really "wanted" to get the baby this or this he'd probably say baby doesn't need it - he's kind of strange like that!!! Oooh add to that - baby isn't getting a nursery We just moved into a 2 bedroom apartment before finding out "oops!" so baby's room is my room too... The double stroller is a nice idea too but DS is 4 (or will be in a week) and won't sit in his anyway so I have plenty of single strollers for baby Kinda ... that might be an idea - as I sit here and type I remember that all my strollers got ruined (except for the one that goes with the carseat) in my parent's basement (Darn mold!)

Re: Suggestions for "something big"
I say let them buy the swing. Those things have gotten expensive over the last few years. I bought mine secondhand for $60! It was $150 in the store until the price got marked down to $100, which is more reasonable. I like that it plugs in, so no buying D batteries!

Re: Suggestions for "something big"
Would they go for an organic crib mattress? Those are pricey!
