vbac friendly doc in san diego

My brother and his wife are having a baby. She had 2 c-section 1 because of breech and 1 because of repeat. They thought with it being 8 years since their last child they wouldn't have any problem having a vbac. They met with there doctor and of course she already said there is no chance for vbac. They are looking for a new doc now. I suggested a birth center but I don't think she's comfortable with that. Anyone in the area know of a good ob or cnm that is vbac friendly. I'm all the way in Va so trying to help any way I can

Birth Centers can't take VBAC clients because of licensing. She would either have to go with an OB in the hospital or a midwife at home. There is a very natural birth friendly doctor in the community, his name is Dr. Biter. I'm not 100% sure if he would do a VBA2C but he is the only one I can think of who might. HTH.

I called UCSD as i am interested in having one too. They do vbacs in the birthing center. I know you said they may not be comfortable with a birthing center but i highly recomend they attend one of their open houses. The bc is right there with labor & delivery so theres obs everywhere in case of emergency. I had good experience having my baby at UCSD, would go there again for next baby :-)

It frustrates me when I hear of a doc saying no to VBA2C.....ACOG themselves recommend it. They changes their guidelines about it in June 2010.

I hope she finds somebody to support her. If there is an ICAN chapter local to that area, they may have some suggestions on doctors.

Sharp Mary Birch has so many different doctors (it is a HUGE hospital) so it might just be a matter of interviewing several doctors before finding one who will work with her. I had my son there last year due to being a preemie and it was a wonderful experience. I've had friends deliver at UCSD with the midwives and had good experiences, too.

Last time I checked Dr. Biter is on suspension and he does not have privileges at any San Diego hospitals.
