18 month old weaning?

Ok ladies so my son is 18months old now and he has started nursing for a few minutes at night then rolls away from me and falls asleep. During the day he still wants to nurse at any time (i.e. the girls have to be available any time he wants lol) but with out tracking the # of times it seems like his day time nursing is cutting back too.... he was also sick last week (poor baby, I gave him dairy and he was throwing up all week ) so maybe that has something to do with it?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: 18 month old weaning?

Sometimes babies/toddlers cut back on nursing when they are sick (like you mentioned) and that doesn't necessarily mean they are weaning. See what happens over the next couple weeks.

Tons of good info on -

Re: 18 month old weaning?

It is normal for babes to cut back their nursing as they get older. At 18 months my DD was probably still nursing 8 times per day/night. At 24 months maybe 5 times. Now at 30 months she is nursing 2 times per day.

Just because he is cutting back, doesn't mean he is weaning completely. Weaning is a pretty slow process if you let it take its course.
