New member and new to cloth diapers

Hello
I am due Jan 21st with our first and its a girl. We are a military family and I am going to try cloth diapering. It didn't even cross my mind until we hung out with a friend who uses cloth. She uses Green Line and the covers were so cute so I asked her a ton of questions about it and have decided to go for it! I have an order in for covers and soakers with Green Line and I also bought prefolds and workhorse fitteds from GMD. I have been searching/reading this forum for a few weeks now (same friend told me about this) and I was finally able to join. For some reason there were issues with me trying to join. My only concern is I have a Samsung front load washer and I have read more bad than good reviews on washing diapers in HE machines

Re: New member and new to cloth diapers

I was really nervous about starting cloth, especially about washing them, but when I just finally jumped into it I realized I didn't have to do tons of special things that a lot of people do to be successful. I have a top-loading, so no experience front-loading, but I'd just try it and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out a routine that works for you. Good luck!

Re: New member and new to cloth diapers

I'm new too (this is my first post here!), but have been cloth diapering for a few months now, with a front loader HE washer! If, after awhile you notice your dipes have built up some stinkiness and the HE washer just isn't providing enough soaking time, you can always soak the load of dipes in your bathtub or laundry sink for a few hours before washing. I find that really helps, and do it every now and then to battle the stinkies!
