smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
I've always been told I'd show sooner and be bigger with the second child.
Pictures tell me otherwise. Mind you, I had about 2" of fat still hanging on from DS1. When I sit down, I have a roll of fat. In the 20 weeks picture of me pregnant with DS, that's purely stretched out skin. I had no excess fat, no rolls when I sat, just purely a very, very full baby belly. Anyone else smaller in a second or subsequent pregnancies? And if so, how big was your first baby when born compared to the others? (DS1 was 9lb 13oz - trying to eat a lot better this pregnancy and hoping for a smaller baby)

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
Me! I gained 70lbs w/ DS1. He was also 9.13lbs, 21". However, I stuck with the Brewer's diet w/ DS2 and only gained around 38-40lbs and he was 9.8lbs, 22". We're hoping this next one goes down about 5oz as well for 9.3.

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
My first was my biggest baby, my third was my smallest. First was 8lbs 7oz, although I feel that might have been a little off as I was there 6 hours before he was born and they gave me quite a bit of fluids. The 2nd was born super quick and was 7lbs 15oz. The 3rd was born even faster and was 7lbs 4 oz. All boys, BTW. I felt like I carried the same way each time and gained about the same amount of weight each time at the same rate of "speed" I guess. Each pregnancy though, everyone always told me I didn't really look pregnant until about 6-7 months! I guess they were saying I just looked fat. HA!

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
So - I gain butt loads of weight during PG as I have PCOS and between the PG induced and PCOS induced insulin resistance, sugar is a weight gaining enemy. My weight gain did not reflect the weight of my children. I was a 70 pound weight gain gal for all 3 babies so far. This PG I am on my PCOS meds still and did not stop them (Metformin) and have lost weight in the almost 5 months I have been PG.
DS1 was 8 lbs 13 ounces @ 40 wks 5 days - his father is different from the rest of my brood. DS2 was 7 lbs 1 ounces @ 40 weeks 5 days DS 3 was 7 lbs 15 ounces @ 39 weeks 1 day So - while there was a difference in weight with baby #1 and 2, but that was genetics. Each child was a bit bigger, but the fatty in me was the same...LOL!

I showed earlier with my second, but was definitely much smaller, especially at the end. I found I had hypertension with my second, so I was a lot more careful about my diet and exercise. I gained 37lbs with my first and he was 9lbs5oz. Second time I gained a little less than 20lbs, and she was 7lbs6oz - though she had about a week and a half less time to grow because I was induced.

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
DS1 8lbs8oz 21in
DS2 8lbs7.4oz 21.75in So PRETTY much the same size but I looked much smaller with DS2. I would have bet that he was going to be atleast a pound smaller than #1 but I think he was just sitting much lower.

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
I am definitely showing more with the second...I have a feeling that this baby is going to be bigger than the first one. It probably doesn't help that I am not exercising as much as with my first, since I had a gym membership now, but I can't afford it now
I try to walk and exercise at home, but I suck at that . That's why I had a gym membership!

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
I gained 40 lbs with my first pregnancy and only 20 lbs with my 2nd, but I definitely started showing earlier.

Re: smaller with subsequent pregnancies?
I was much smaller with DD2 than DD1. She ended up being 7lb2oz and DD1 was 8lb4oz. She was born 1.5 weeks earlier though so that may have something to do with it. I just think she was laying differently! I had alot more back pain with DD2 so I think she may hav been farther back
