Blw and restaurants

How does BLW work when you go out to eat? The highchairs never have trays and my DS will make a big mess on the floor! How do you do it?

We push the highchair up to the table and give her some of our food, we ask for an extra plate. But it's messy, and DH and I usually have to take turns eating while the other one entertains. We usually leave a mess and a big tip

Yep, us too. I try to pick up big food pieces or stuff that other patrons will step on before we leave but yeah, big tip.

Same thing... no plate though! That would result in another (innocent) diner being hit in the head!
We just push the high chair up to the table and put bits of whatever on the table for DD. I will try to order something where I think "hey, she could eat the bits of avocado and I can cut up some meat and whatever..."
We bring a bib with a catch-basin at the bottom, and DH pretty much does a table-dive every 10 mins or so. BIIIIIG tips.
While we're waiting for the food, DD can be amused with menus, spoons, napkins, and lemons from my iced tea

Same as everyone else but for DS2 I found some suction cup plates/bowls that I started bringing. They worked great.

until they get to be about 2 I always packed food in the diaper bag I knew they would eat.

Re: Blw and restaurants

we have a suction cup thing that has a little bucket type thing that is supposed to catch the extra food.

lemme see if I can find a link.

also.. yeah.. big tip.
and we actually tend to hand feed her more at restaurants (sorry!)
I really need to find that tiny diner - no clue where it went during our move.

I second the tiny diner......plus it keeps their food off the germy table (or off the recently disinfected bleached table). And a bib brought from home is a must :-)

Re: Blw and restaurants

I use the plastic stick on mats for the tables. And, I clean up any mess left on the floor or else where as I don't think its the server's responsbility to clean anything outside of the ordinary mess and its gross for other people to look at.

Re: Blw and restaurants

if you're looking at this today, you're in luck!

there's the babydiner dish holder for half off today at http://babysteals.stealnetwork.com/

bibs are good, but I love this product: http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/...mSource=Search
I always said 'I need something like the dentists have' and lo and behold.. someone sells them. Good for restaurants that have cloth napkins, anyways.
