Babies first foods?

ok...so I think my ds may be ready to start solids . He is 7 months and we thought we might just try a few things . Anyone have any ideas on which foods I should try first. I know I want to try avacodo and bananas, put what else is good for him. We are not using the baby food in jars , we want to make our own. Also any tips for what to expect with the cd's and what to do with them ?

Those 2 are great! Sweet potatoes are also easy (little bit of BM in em). Homemade applesauce & veggies from soup are great too! If you start slow you shouldn't notice much poo change- maybe a bit more 'peanutbuttery'

We started out w/ sweet potaotes also. I would be hesitent to start w/ the avacodo, just becuase bm is very sweet so having someting on the same sweetness level would help to ease your child into starting solids.. Also sweet potatoes are the most nutritional vegetable.

We just offer table foods when appropriate. For example, I made a chicken noodle soup the other day, and let dd nibble a few bites of the very soft carrots pieces mushed up.

Avocado is an excellent first food too. I need to pick one up for dd.

I like avocado too. I combine with with homemade applesauce because otherwise DD won't eat it. What I usually do for my 10 month DD is buy fresh veggies and fruits from the market, steam them, then put them in a blender. Most of the time I mixed 2 kind of veggies together.

Sweet potatoes and carrots are excellent. I fed tofu also to my first DD but I haven't tried yet with my second one.

Re: Babies first foods?

Sweet potatos are the best I think, Squash tends to be a little gassy IMO..
Bananas I know sometimes kids have a hard time digesting...

But I'm all for sweet potatos..
So your making your own, this is my trick well not really mine..
But I would puree up a bunch and then stick it in ice cube trays and freeze it.
Once it was frozen then I would put them freezer bags with the date.
There perfect 1 oz servings....I hate to buy baby food in the jar its so expensive...
We would buy frozen fruits and veggies and puree them up..
My son loved it, plus I love knowing that there werent any added things.
