Getting peas smooth enough?

So, tonight I tried peas - our first non cereal food. LO gagged & threw up! I tried making it runnier (adding BM) and she did it again. I'm seriously traumatizing her! So I'm wondering if it's because of the pea "husks" (or whatever). How do you get them smooth enough? I don't have a food maker - I just steamed them and put them in the food processor. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Peas are really tough to make into baby food well. I often ended up mixing mine into cereal to get a better texture. If you want to try something else, sweet potato or something like that does work really well just in a food processor.

I think peas do better in a food mill thingy where they are forced through a screen, it helps with the texture. FYI peas can be difficult for some people to digest.

Yep. Like they said. Peas are tricky. For green veggies I had better luck with zucchini, green beans, or spinach. I just use my food processor and once I think it is smooth enough I let it run a bit more.

Yeah, if you have a mesh strainer that can help filter out the husks/skins.

Thanks for your help! I went back through what I made & put them through a strainer and then added some water to thin it out. Tonight, she loved them! And no gagging!

When I did peas and strained them I ended up throwing out a lot of it with the skins. After the first batch, I bought them. I figured making 95% of her food was good enough for me.
