Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

With DS1, DH stayed every night with me. I was in for 4 days.

For this one, he will stay the first night with me. If there is no complications with anyone, I'm demanding to be released before the second night. I have another child at home that needs our care. DS1 will stay the night with family the first night, but that's all the longer I want him to be there.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

I voted other. With our first three he was able to stay some, if not all, of the nights I was there. Now that we are significantly outnumbered at home it is easier and better for both of us if he is able to sleep well at home and stay with our other kids. We do have relatives lined up to get the kids dinner, baths, and bed though so he can stay as late as he wants at the hospital since there are no visiting hours rules for him. This is a c/s (as the others were) so I'll be in the hospital about three nights. In a lot of ways it is nice to have the alone time one on one with the baby and not worrying about if my DH is running ragged on no sleep.

With my first two he did and with my youngest I sent him home to be with my mom and our older daughter.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

He did with DS but it was just us. He probably won't for the new baby, though. While DS has someone to stay with him during the day, he doesn't do as well without us at night and also it'd be a long stretch for him to be without either of us, even with a visit to the hospital.

I'm thinking about asking my mom to stay with me at night, though, so I don't get crap for rooming in. (The hospital doesn't like rooming in if there is only one adult, but they do try to push it otherwise.)

He stayed both times. I don't like being in the hospital alone...

With DS he did. Not sure if I will have him stay one night or the whole time for this new baby. Probably depends on if I have a c-section or VBAC.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

I wasn't able to get a private room, so DH could only come during visiting hours, 10-11am and 5-6pm. It stunk. He would have stayed the whole time if allowed.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

DH stayed with us the entire time with all 3 children (except when he went to Mass after #2 and #3). No way he was leaving those new little bundles of joy if he didn't have to.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

I said yes but he went home the second day/night when I had my son. My mom can only handle so much with kids and he went home to take care of them. Probably be the same thing this time. I'd rather he be home and my mom helping than her get stressed out with my 3. They are a lot of work lol.

Re: Did your DH/SO stay with you

All of this is making me wish I gave birth in the US!! Here in the UK, DH was allowed to stay with me during labor, but after that he had to go home and was only allowed to visit during official visiting hours (1hour am and 2 hours in the evening). It wasn't too bad though, after my emergency c-section i was sent home 24 hours later! It may be free but our healthcare system doesn't have much 'care.'
