Re: What is your favorite yarn base?

I need to try BBR. I think you just pushed me over the edge (my "baby" is as big as yours lol).

My what-I-don't-like list is so much shorter then the what-I-do-like list.

Love for diapering woolies: aran bfl, mmw, bulky gaia
Love for me: 80/10/10 MCN in any weight

I can get a pair of longies with two skeins of BBR. It's fabulous. It's not quite as hardy as cestari, and gets pilly a little easier, but it goes so much further.

Re: What is your favorite yarn base?

about yardage, I knitted a 3T hooded cardigan with shoulder to hem length of 19" on 2 skeins of BBR. I like vivid colors though and most CW I see on BBR have muted colors compared to other bases

I know some dyers will start carrying it. Us (Dear Husband) I think Melissa (Family Pendragon) will also have it, Stacy (Lollytree), and I'm sure there are more dyers that will start making it a part of their line up.

These are on BBR and I don't think they're muted at all:
Of course, that's just one example. But, these didn't even use ONE entire skein of yarn! Crazy how far that yardage goes. I got back an entire skein plus scraps of colorway from the first skein, plus quite a bit of trim with the finished longies. These are 21" hips and 12.5" inseam.

That said, it's not my favorite base. The longies are just not as soft as I like them to be.

I love, love bulky gaia (Stallion) and worsted gaia. I hate, hate how pilly they get, but I deal since they are so soft. I LOVE Marr Haven, but it seems to nearly be a thing of the past. IMO, it's a mix of the best qualities of Cestari SF and Mountain Meadow, both of which I like, too.

Fletcher has a small-ish stash this year. By the time it's finished in Jan , he'll have 5 pair of Stallion (bulky gaia), 1 of bulky gaia, 2 of worsted gaia, 1 pair of Mountain Meadow and maybe one pair of Cestari SF.
