Re: I just ordered Calvert Pre-K
Wanted to post a 1 month update. Tomorrow we are doing lesson #20 which is a review lesson. I want Daddy around for that one.
![]() Everything seems to be going well. I did have to go and get DS some grippers from Lakeshore Learning so that he could hold his pencil correctly. That was causing him issues and making it so anything he needed to do with a pencil hard. I also got him some scissors, and triangle crayons to help with hand muscle strengthening. Something that is suppose to be weak in a 3 year old so it isn't bad, but it does help him with the activities. The other things I am actually shocked by. DS doesn't appear to be listening many times when I am reading the stories but when we go back to them (all part of the lesson plan) I am shocked by how much he can tell me. I am loving the ideas on how to work things together. My basement is turning into a nice school room and it is working well. It really seems to be building to something and that is good. For those who want to know, there is no bible references other then suggested things you can do to start your day. There is patriotic songs (My country tis of thee) but you can skip this part and not really miss it if you object. Just thought I would share!

Re: I just ordered Calvert Pre-K
I thought I would update this thread. I am about a month away from completing the Pre-K and everything is going well. My son has learned more then I could have hoped for honestly. I did skip over things here and there, but for the most part everything is going well. We are now able to do double lessons because he is getting things rather quickly.
I figure we will finish up around the end of this month then I will give him a month before diving into Kindergarden with him. He will be 4 at the end of September. So I highly recommend this to anyone with a 3 year old who seems to be ready for something more. It may seem a bit advanced at first but keep at it and your child will get it.

Re: I just ordered Calvert Pre-K
Just wanted to thank you for putting this up. I'm planning on using a different curriculum, a self-designed charlotte mason/classical kinda thing... but my son is about to turn 3 - I was planning on waiting a year before really organizing anything.. anyway - long story short he's been so bored lately - and since we just moved I'm not as creative as normal about coming up with stuff spontaneously... 1 days I decided to open some of the pre-k kinda stuff I have gathered. He was so excited about it - the next day he went into the room and said "can I do math now"... I don't want to push him into something - but hearing how well you did with your 3 year old makes me feel like it's okay to just have plans that are there if he's into them - for entertainment!
I also want to help with his motor skills too. |

Re: I just ordered Calvert Pre-K
This definitely helps with fine motor and gross motor. My son has been doing good with gross motor before this but he didn't even know how to hold a pencil prior to this. Now he holds everything correctly every time and can even draw lines and circles and such. Admittedly I wasn't working that hard with him prior to this point so that could have had something to do with it.
