Re: Prefold Comparison! Cloth-eez GMD, Diaper Rite, Imagine, OsoCozy, Zabi

I'm stuck and hoping you ladies can help me. My little girl was born 6.6lbs but came home 5.12lbs. We did a newborn diaper trial from Jillians Drawers and I nabbed a dozen Osocozy newborn prefolds from Amazon just in case. I was in such rough shape when we got home that we used disposables for quite awhile. Once we finally got to the cloth, I was SO glad we had done a trial. I thought that both me and my husband would prefer pockets and would hate prefolds. Imagine my surprise when we preferred prefolds over pockets AND AIOs! Because I hadn't done much prefold research, I think I goofed when I bought our diapers. I bought 3 dozen GMD orange which we use in our size 1 Thirsties Duo Wraps. They worked well for awhile, but I should have ordered some orange and some larger. She is breastfed and has lots of runny, explosive poops so trifolding doesn't really work for us. The diapers fit perfect trifolded in our covers on the second snap but the cover always gets poop on it and when she wets, the trifolded prefold immediately bunches and slips down. We prefer to snappi to save our covers. The rise on the orange is perfect but we can't snappi the diapers because she is too wide now. Now I don't trust myself to buy the next round and keep procrastinating...
So...having said all that...
What would you recommend I buy for a approx. 12lb approx. 23in 3-month-old who fits in the rise of the GMD orange but is too wide to snappi? I am open to any brand, but cost does matter, which is part of why I am stressing...I can't afford to goof again! Also, is there a cover that is better for trifolding in than the duo wrap? I hear alot of people say they trifold in the Flips. I am just wondering if we might be able to still use the orange and trifold if we use another cover...
Thanks SO much!

Although they would be much larger, I would consider Imagine mediums. That way, she can always grow into them. Smalls do not last very long. Plus mediums will probably be more absorbent. You could try tri-folding the short way and see how bulky it is.

I think I'd also look into the Imagine bamboo ones. I know nothing about them, but they sound cool!

I was just revisiting this thread, and saw you ladies' comments. Thank you!

I am considering going back to prefolds and covers. I'm tired of padfolding flats, and the Flips are starting to fit funny on my ds.
I can't decide....DR unbleached orange edge, GMD unbleached browns, Imaging bamboo or cotton larges?...? Which covers? My son is 18 months, 26lbs.
What do you all think?

Are you fastening or trifolding?

For fastening, I'd do larges but for trifolding mediums. I've only used GMDs which are awesome but I can't speak to the others.

I am kinda tired of trifolding/padfolding and laying in the Flips. I think I want to fasten with a snappi or pins, and use maybe Thirsties covers? Can't decide...sized of duo or something else.
I have a dozen of the medium bamboo imagines which I do like for softness and absorbency. They are slightly too long to trifold in the covers we have, and just barely fit fastened. I think I want just good ole cotton and I am leaning toward the gmd unbleached browns...
