ball winder?
what is your favorite ball winder? why?
DH is letting me buy my own gift for christmas I don't need it by Christmas...he always does the stupid printed out paper wrapped up and then I get to pick it out. But it would be a bonus if I could get it before hand to unwrap something more than a piece of paper

Re: ball winder?
I have a Knit Picks ball winder that cost around $20 + shipping. I like it just fine, and don't imagine I'd like a more expensive one any better.
eta: Do you own a swift? It has been so convenient to wind my skeins of yarn onto the winder, while the swift holds the yarn. That was a Knit Picks purchase, as well. It was $50.

Re: ball winder?
I have the Royal one. It's a few years old and works great. The only issue is that the tube can fly off the winder if I wind too fast.
I also have the Knitpicks yarn swift and it's great to have too. I had the winder by itself for a couple years before I added a swift...it's so much fun to wind yarn now. If you ever get their swift, it goes on sale for $15 less several times a year.

Re: ball winder?
I have the royal yarn winder from JoAnn's. You have to order it online, but it holds up great and will hold 8oz skeins of yarn with no problem. It is the same my LYS has and I know she's had the same one for over 10 years at this point with regular use.

Re: ball winder?
I have a plastic one, the Royal I think as well. It was cheap, and works well enough with a swift. But, if I every need another one, I'm going to get
