Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I'm in! This past year I have made a big shift towards a more minimalist approach. Definitely haven't "arrived" yet but I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff this year. This will be a great goal for me. We are hoping to move in the next couple of months and I want to do a huge and drastic purge of the house before we move so I don't have to deal with the extra stuff in a new house.

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I am SO in. I actually need to do even more than this, but I'll be sure to do at least 6 items per day. We are possibly relocating at some point this year, so I really need to get rid of all that I can.

Already starting - today I worked on our toyroom. I have 1 small box of books, 3 large boxes of toys, and 2 large bags of misc ready to donate. Also threw away 3 grocery bags full of stuff that I didn't deem even good enough to donate. And listed a Little Tikes table on freecycle - hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. Also pulled out DD's plastic play kitchen, which she never plays with anymore and just takes up tons of room, to list on craigslist if DH will agree to it.

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I think dp would kill me if I told him I was counting/getting rid of that much.

I will be getting rid of tons but wont be keeping track, puts too much pressure on it for me personally.

I cannot wait for all of this holiday stuff to be over and to be back in my own house where I can get rid of LOTS =)

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I'm in! I've been selling a lot on fb, and just ditched 12 of dh's undershirts, a handful of boxers, tons of socks for and I. And I sold 3 things!

I love it. Told my husband and he asked if we even had 2012 things to get rid of! Ha! We can barely walk in the "guest room."

Hoping to figure out a simple way to keep track on my iphone. Thought spreadsheet in google docs might do the trick, but it's difficult to navigate. Anyone have any suggestions for easy counting?

Me too! We already have six bags at the door waiting to be donated.

I love this idea! I am drowning in stuff and I realize it's why I can't keep up with stuff....we just have too much!
