Got rid of my tv that I've had for 18 years on freecycle today. Kind of sad but I didn't need it. Also have a bag of clothes to take to donate. Just listed two sheets on freecycle. Oh yeah and someone's supposed to be picking up my crock pot that is missing the lid today too. And I went through the fridge and threw put all the gross produce. What a waste! Ugh mad at myself about wasting great produce!

Hubs just got rid of 50+ items from his closet-a trash bag full of donations and a few things tossed. He's also got more to consign!

70 items gone.

I'm so jealous! I wish my hubby would do this! We are going to be living in Hawaii for another 1.5 yrs (already been here 1.5) and he still has winter clothing that is too big (lost 20+lbs the past 3-4 months) that he is saving for IF we move to a cold climate in 2013.

I can purge anywhere except his closet & his desk, so I guess that isn't too bad.

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I asked dh what he thought about me doing this and he said "Well, I guess if we don't need it or can't find a use for it someday.". So, it looks like Mr. Saves-a-lot is out.
I am still in though. I am sick of the stuff that's taking up so much space in my life! I should have no problem finding that much to get rid of. I already have a closet full of stuff ready to go to Goodwill. Ijust have toremember to keep super corny stuff for next year's white elephant gift exchanges.

He may come around once he sees how great the house is starting to look. Give him some time.

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I purged kid clothing and books, so I racked up some good numbers this weekend.

15 pairs of old socks
2 old light bulbs
46 of DS old clothing items
80 items of baby clothes at least (probably a lot more I refuse to count)
36 Kid Books
1 Stupid Glow Stick - Stupid thing squirted glowing liquid in my DS
eye. What a fun adventure that was tonight.
1 glow necklace - unused. I am still ticked off still about the glow stick.

Total: 181

We have been gone all day, but just got home and I made myself pull 6 shirts from my closet and add them to my donate pile before heading to bed. I really want to purge a minimum of 5-6 items per day, hopefully more most days.

The charity pickup truck is coming Thursday, and I plan to have 10 large bags / boxes for them.

Re: 2,012 items in 2012

I don't think I have the patience to count piece by piece but we did get rid of about 40 or so things from the kitchen that were lids that didn't match or ugly coffee cups, kid cups that tip too easily, and a few utensils that didn't match or were duplicates of what we have.

I also went through the craft closet and got rid of hundreds of buttons and shells that we just won't use. A few paint brushes, some paint and markers that were dried out, and a few cheap kids art things that have since been replaced with nicer items.

We got rid of about a dozen toys that we just didn't need and probably 50 or so Christmas items.

I went through the junk drawer and got rid of a few things but mostly it needed to be reorganized. We just went through the clothes when it got cold so we don't have anything to get rid of there and the linens are questionable so I think that will be the next thing I look at.
