Diaper Swappers

I'm trying to knit my first ever longies. Starting with newborn, because I'm going to need them soon. Im using the pattern from Maggie's Knitting wool covers from start to finish. I cast on 56 stitches, and split to magic loop.. There aren't any stitches on the cable at all, is that normal? Everything is on the needles. Will it get easier as I knit the waistband? Or should I just get DPNs?

If your doing really small circumference, there will be no stitches on the cables. I usually just use 12" and 16" circular needles for NB size.

I usually have to use double points for the waist band once I get to the body and add stitches for the hips I can usually use my 12-16" circulars.

I've never magic looped so I don't know but I would look up some videos on you tube. What size cable are you using?

I also am a new knitter, and love the pimp my longies pattern online, really clear instructions for the gusset if you get stuck!

I just use 16 inch circs for the body and 12 inch for the legs. Even newborn sizes.
