Re: Umbilical Cord Rings

I asked one of the Dr's that might be at the hospital with me, if he would use this ring and he said probably not, that they have to use what the hospital has and follow their procedures. Especially if the ring is not approved by the AMA or whatever the Dr certification standards are ... But I will bring it anyway and try when I am there!

Re: Umbilical Cord Rings

Interesting ...

My midwife just used twine. I loved that, for some reason. But if a future one won't, I'm glad I know about these - thanks!

Called my MW yesterday to ask about them and she said they use them already!

Re: Umbilical Cord Rings

My midwife group said if I could bring them more information on them, they could see if it could be approved by the hospital.

Re: Umbilical Cord Rings

Well, I had my baby on Friday, and the hospital used the ring. But they also used the clamp above the ring until it dried, they said they had to still use the clamp in case something happened to the the ring, so she wouldn't bleed. Here is what it looked like a few days ago.

Congrats on the new little one!

Great pics- too bad the hospital wouldn't trust a proven device! Looks like you are still left with the pokey/sharp part of the dried cord where they took off their clamp :-(

I wonder what the hospital used on my sister when she was a baby. I always thought it looked like the twist top on a Squeeze-It bottle.

Re: Umbilical Cord Rings

Do you still have any rings left? Would you send one up to the north pole?

I've got 2 left (not counting the 2 I'm keeping for myself!)

$5.50 for both, ship to CA included- no markup, just what I pd, pp fees and shipping!

These are wonderful and how great that your mw will let you do it at the hossie! I'll definitely be talking with our mw about this at the next appt!

ETA: Tanya- I may be interested in the last 2, if you still have them. I just called my MW's office and I'm waiting for a call back from them.
