upping milk supply. And Janine, I don't know but I hhope you find a way. I tried to donate some super expensive asthma meds to the pharmacy for them to give out to someone who's insurance wouldn't cover it and needed it(like with a prescription) but the pharmacy told me it was illegal and I needed to throw it out even though it was sealed in a box with the issue date and label on it and the meds themselves were still in their foil wrappers sealed.

I'm thinking it'd need to be semi "underground" - I'd go local (to avoid shipping) within the LLL groups and lactation consultants that I know to see if they knew of someone in need. I'm currently waiting for my shipment to arrive (I think the holidays affected it but I had a nightmare that it got held up in customs), wish you were local

I don't think there is a legal way but I'd totally under the table that stuff bc its not cheap and I am sure someone could use it!

You take it to the pharmacy and they'll dispose of it. Never flush pills or any meds. People do this all the time and the meds end up back in the drinking water or in produce where we consume them without knowing.

This. I used to work as a Pharmacy Tech and we had patients drop off expired meds or meds they weren't taking any longer. They get sent to the drug company and are disposed of there where they have the capabilities and equipment to handle it properly.
As far as legally giving away meds, it is not legal if it is a prescription. I would also worry if someone had a bad reaction to something you gave them. Things that are safe for most people will always be unsafe for someone, and it would suck if that one person was someone you donated meds to. I would think it would be best just to ask the pharmacy to dispose of them, as much of a waste as it might seem. But that is just my opinion.

my phone thinks it's smart. pardon the typos.

Re: Is There a Legal Way to Give Away Unused Medications?

You may be able to donate it to a clinic. Some states allow clinics to re-dispense medications, so your clinic or community health center may be able to take it off your hands if it is sealed.

http://www.ncsl.org/default.aspx?tabid=14425

Be aware you can be held legally and financially responsible if you give or sell meds to someone else directly. You can also be charged with a felony.
