6mo baby help
my boy is 6 months old and is waking anywhere from none to 3 times a night... he is breast fed and has one small meal per day or rice cereal or fruit. when he wakes in the night I just automatically breast feed him (usually lasts 10-15 mins or so) and then pop him back in his cot..
is this right? or should I be doing something else on those wake ups? I get so confused with so many conflicting ideas out there.. thought I'd try my luck here xx mum to beautiful boy and loving cloth nappy-ing him! |

At that age I would nurse at any waking. Now that my ds is 9 months, I'm about to start night weaning.

Re: 6mo baby help
I don't ever 'force' sleep. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My 1 year old still wakes up 4-6 times per night, and refused to go back to sleep without nursing. I'm not ready to push it yet. I didn't do anything about DD1's sleeping through the night until she was almost 18 months, either.

Re: 6mo baby help
I would love for my 6 month old to wake from none to 3 times a night... he is up atleast 5, and about 10 times before midnight... he wants me to sleep with him at all times...

Re: 6mo baby help
Yeah that sounds like what my ds was doing at 6mo. So I would say it's totally normal. He started really eating a lot of solids around 11-12 mo and that's when sttn really happened... plus I got pg and he weaned when my milk dried up.

My DD is almost 9 months, and that sounds just like her at 6 months. We're having a little sleep regression/teething now, so I long for the good old nights.

Re: 6mo baby help
My lo is 18 months and still wakes from 1-3 times a night... so don't expect it to end any time soon :-)
At 6mo I would nurse at any night waking.

Thank you all again, so when do you stop the night nursing and when you do stop what is a good way to get them back off to sleep?
