Re: Dirty diapers let sit for a month+

suspense.............

you need to open the bag and report back!!!

You know you have a BIG stash when you can lose an entire bag full and not even notice! Seriously though I ROFL at the Texas remark. I live in Florida and THIS thread is my fear!

The smell in your trunk might be an indication of how bad the diapers are ... ?

I'd deal with them outside ... toss straight into a big bucket with bleach and water, agitate with a plunger ...

Re: Dirty diapers let sit for a month+

I would just open the bag and take a look. If they have been sitting that long in Texas, then there is a good chance they dried out.

I found a plastic bag with wet undies and jeans that had been in my car for I don't know how long. They were pretty much dry. I just threw them in the wash (pre-rinse then hot wash) and they were fine.

So really, it could be very easy to get them up and running again. I highly doubt you will experience diaper mushrooms!

Re: Dirty diapers let sit for a month+

oh my... the mushrooms thread... wow! Too bad they don't make mental bleach for stuff like that!
If I found a bag of diapers in the trunk from a month ago.... I'd put 1/2 cup bleach and wash in hot water. open the bag and let the washer do it's thing. Then I would inspect if they were gross...trash but at least I tried to save them. I also think it would depend on the type of diapers. But I wouldn't be afraid to "ruin" them with bleach since otherwise I'd just trash them! I would "mark" them so if they leaked or had a foul odor after use I would know it was them.
The worst for me was some peed in pockets. I'd changed her in the car and the wet bag didn't make it in diaper bag or in the house. A week later went to go somewhere and couldn't find my wetbag. Then I checked the car! They were smelly but I just washed with baking soda and then a normal wash/exrtra rinse. (so washed 2x in machine/rinse 3x) They were fine!
