He rolled off the ottoman, should I call the doc?

My 5.5 month old rolled off the ottoman...I know, I shouldn't have put him there I'm pretty sure he landed on his belly and he seems fine. He cried for a few seconds only. He's acting normal. His doctor has an answering service that would have him call me back if needed. Should I call? I'm thinking not. I know he would need to be seen if he starts acting odd, but what would the warning signs be? Thanks mamas. Please no lectures. I know I just earned the mom of the year award and I'm never putting him on the ottoman again.

It was about a 1.5 foot fall from the ottoman to our laminate floor. He doesn't have any red marks, bruises, etc.

You are not the first to do this, nor will you be the last. They call them bouncing babies for a reason..LOL! He is fine. His eyes woudl not focus, his pupils would be odd, he would lose conciousness, etc. If he is acting normal, then I would not worry. Make sure to wiggle him slightly awake over night if you think he bopped his head hard. Falling less than 2 feet would not really do much more than scare you.

I had one go down the stairs from a gate accidentally left open. It was a steep long stair case. I thought he would be dead. He had a couple of scratches. They observed him for hours inteh ER and not a single thing was wrong with him. I thought I was going to die. I still get a panic attack thinking/talking about it.

He's fine. DS1 launched himself off of his changing table at about the same age. It was a little bit higher. It is super scary. As long as he's acting normal I wouldn't worry just keep and eye and a hand on him.

ODS rolled off the couch at 4 months, and off a very high king sized bed at 7 months. Both on DH's watch. Lol ODS is fine, though DH got a serious beating.

I still remember when my son fell like that for the first time. He was 7 months. I felt sooooo bad. I cried. He was fine, mostly scared I think. I checked him over, made sure everything moved fine and felt him all over. They are more resilient than you think! Just keep an eye on him and call the doc (or bring him in) if you notice anything out of the ordinary.

Re: He rolled off the ottoman, should I call the doc?

My dd fell out of her crib head first at 7mos and coincidentally we were going for vax that day anyway. The doc barely looked up from his paper when I told him. He just asked what she fell onto and if she cried. Happens all the time. Unless your dc is behaving strangely I woudln't worry.
