Have you taken compazine while pregnant for nausea?

My doctor put me on it and I'm also nursing. It came with a warning on the bottle about it's not suggested for nursing mothers and what I'm reading online isn't great.

I called the doctor today and he said that it is fine, but he's a new doctor so I don't know if i trust him all the way.

They said little is known about how it will effect the nursing child and pregnancy....I don't want to be a guinea pig, ya know?

Has anyone used it and baby turned out healthy and fine?

Have you tried ginger gum or ginger candy yet? Also, there are these candies called preggie pops made for nausea.

Sorry, I don;t have an answer to your question, hon. I'd feel uneasy too. I was uneasy about the Prilosec doc said I could take and so I quit. Now I just suffer :-)

Not nursing anymore so not sure on the safety but... maybe look in to zofran(although that didn't work for me) or raglan?

Have you tried other meds? We only give Compazine (IV) to patient's in the hospital if they are on a heart monitor, and it's not really used too much. I would not take it when pregnant, unless I had no other choice.

I only took 1 pill and wasn't feeling comfortable with what I read about it so they switched me to Phenergan (sp?)and it's working pretty well. It just makes me very dizzy and drowsy

He doesn't recommend compazine or phenergan for breastfeeding mothers and prefers Zofran.

I took compazine once or twice while pregnant, I used it when I wasn't pregnant to control nausea due to migraines. I have never used it while breastfeeding though.

Thank you for the link! I don't see it talking about phenergan though, am I missing it?

Phenergan is widely prescribed. You should be fine taking it.

Oh sorry, you can do a search for phenergan with the icon in the left tool bar. They have a pretty extensive list of medicines covered on there.
