Re: Do You Prefer A Male Or Female OB?

I've never had a male one.....I have always seen a female since I was 14. I guess because my husband is the only guy who's ever been down there...I'm more comfortable with that.

Re: Do You Prefer A Male Or Female OB?

See, now I always feel a guy s judging my lady bits more than a woman. I guess I feel a woman knows what to expect (with exceptions) and I don't exactly find vaginas attractive like a man would so in my mind other women feel the same lol.

I had a male OB (he delivered me actually!) at the beginning with DS and I really, really liked him. But his old hag of a nurse ruined things for me and I switched to a midwifery practice. loved most of them, but no ones perfect.

I have a male RE (began seeing him for what I thought were hormonal problems, ended up being pretty bad IBS, and then I had a miscarriage, and am now pregnant) and if I could marry his entire practice I would. Awesome bedside manner, right to the point but listens at the same time, doesn't brush off my concerns, and really knows how to do a transvaginal ultrasound! May not be the most comfy but he knows how to see every.single.little.thing and I really needed to be sure everything was all good. I wish he delivered babies :-(

I only have gone to women and I plan on keeping it that way. I feel like as far as men go the only one I want "down there" is my hubby..

I had a male when I was pregnant with DS & a female when I was pregnant with DD. honestly, I liked the male better... I'm not sure if it was just because I was comparing one to the other or that it was because he was in fact a male, but if I had to do it again, I would have gone through him both times.

I've only ever seen females during my pregnancies, but had a male doctor growing up who did all my pelvic exams from puberty until pregnancy (so about one a year for ten years). He was fine, but I have had two other male doctors do inspections down there (one doc in my main guy's practice, and one at an ER) and they were both rude, abrupt, and anything but gentle. It was like I was a puppet. So, I will only go to females now unless I was to go to my old doctor.

Re: Do You Prefer A Male Or Female OB?

I dont care - as long as they are a midwife. I wont see an OB again unless I have a high risk pregnancy in the future.

In all seriousness, I forgot to multi-quote it, but it has also entered my mind that my female doctors judge my parts. It's ridiculous, but I have thought it

Re: Do You Prefer A Male Or Female OB?

I used to not care, but my most recent OB has made some comments recently that made me realize that after all is said and done, he is still male and just doesn't get some female things. Like he said "my highest priority is a healthy baby. After all is said and done, a woman isn't going to hate me for her type of labor/delivery in 3 years if she had a healthy baby." Ummm...women hold huge grudges. I think MOST women WOULD hate you in 3 years if they felt you "ruined" some part of this really important event for them. Obviously everyone's first priority is a healthy baby, but the experience itself is tremendously important to many women. I felt this was totally a guy comment...just something he would never understand because he isn't a woman!
