Question Prefold rash?

My DD apparently has very sensitive skin. I try and use mostly cloth diapers, I almost always use disposables at night. She sleeps a Long time at night, and they rarely leak. Anyway- I put on one of her pre folds this morning, with a cover, as usual, and when I changed her 2 hours later, her little area was red. Not bad red, more like irritated. Normally, if I do all cloth, all day and night, she'll get a little rash (another reason I do disposables at night) but this one happened so quick. And ideas? Would this be my detergent? I had been using homemade (borax, washing soda, and soap) but like I said she'd get irritated if she wore cloth all day, so I switched to a free/clear detergent. Maybe it's worse? But it doesn't give her a rash with my pockets. Maybe it's my pre folds? I don't know. I don't want to give up cloth! Any ideas?

Re: Prefold rash?

Sounds like maybe she just has a problem with wetness against her skin. Have you tried a liner in her prefolds?

Re: Prefold rash?

It sounds like all of the soap did not get rinsed out to me. Maybe try rinsing one out by hand and see if you can smell any soap on it. If so just run all of the prefolds through another rinse cycle and then dry. I'm guessing it would take about 85 minutes.
