I'm not a huge mf fan either.

Re: Xs or S fb on a nb

I would get xs smalls. I have really big babies and was considering getting smalls for a newbie stash so I got some xs and smalls here a side by side of them. The small fits my 20+ 11 month old great he could were it as an everyday diaper so I would imagine it being pretty big on newborn.

I would go with xs, the small would be huge on a nb.

Re: Xs or S fb on a nb

I bought some smalls to use on my newborn (7.5lbs at birth), and they were WAY too big. In fact, they didn't "fit" until she was 2 months old or so...and even then they always leaked at the legs. I never tried XS so I'm no help there...

Re: Xs or S fb on a nb

The old style pointy tab smalls would be fine but the new square tabs would be better off starting off with the nb. My dd was almost 10lbs when she was born and the xs fit perfect for the first month. The smalls were HUGE on her and I was afraid they would irriate the cord stump bc the rise was so big.
She then went onto onesize diapers with no problem so I would recommend buying xs or renting them.

Here are some pics.
