safety of amber necklaces?

What's the best and safest way to wear amber for little ones?

Please no flames... I have an amber teething necklace for DS from Baltic creations, I love it but am too nervous to actually use it as a necklace for fear of strangulation , so bought a converter so he can use it as a bracelet. How safe is it really to use them as a necklace? I always see the "disclosure" on the amber websites (you know like these are not reccomended for children under 3, etc), but I know a lot of people use them specifically for babies. I'm just torn as to what to do when he gets a little bigger and it may not fit as a bracelet, plus when he's that big I assume he will be eating foods, getting the bracelet messy, could break the beads from waving hands/ patting things, etc so that might not be best, then do I move it to his ankle or just bite the bullet and use it as a necklace?

Also are you supposed to take it off for bathtime? I always have but wasn't sure if I can leave it on. Again not saying bad things about using them as a necklace on little babies just curious and looking for advice. Thx!

You have legitimate concerns mama! I would hope that no one would flame you for asking those things.
I recommend not letting your baby sleep with it on and to not leave the baby unattended for any length of time. For those that are really concerned you can put the necklace around the ankle with a sock over it and than put the baby in a footie type outfit.
I personally don't like the bracelets but that's just me for babies but that's just me.

I'm also nervous that if I keep taking it on and off the beads will start cracking more, we've only been using it a couple months and one already has a little chip out of it and some pieces look kind of cracked like they might crack soon too, and it wasn't a "seconds". Is this supposed to happen? We haven't been rough with it at all...

That shouldn't happen. I have a bracelet that gets banged around all the time and doesn't have a single crack or chip in it. I would contact the seller.

Re: safety of amber necklaces?

Do they make any with a safety clasp that will pop open if there is tension?

My 4 month old wears his 24/7. We take it off for baths. At night time we wrap around the ankle, cover with a sock.

Re: safety of amber necklaces?

My LO's amber necklace has a safety "break-away" clasp that will pull apart if there is any tension on the strand. He wears it 24/7, even in the bath! I was told it wouldn't hurt to keep it on in the bath. It fits well, but is loose enough to wash under it with a wash cloth. (You can see the size of it in my avitar pic ) I just notice the the more I take it on and off, the more he realizes its there and messes with it. And my beads are from baltic creations, too, I believe. LO has worn it for 6+ months and none of the beads are broken or chipped.
