Need some help with transitioning from purees to real food.

My son is 1 and DH still insists he needs the baby meals. Which for his age are the chicnky kind really not all that different then real food. But they cost 1.50 per jar here. So 3 a day times 30 is 90 a month. ANd that does not include his breakfasts or snacks. That is almost half our family grocery budget.

DS is 1 year old. When we give him normal food he eats some plays but mainly spits it out. So DH is convinced he still needs baby meals.

How do I get him to eat real food? And what kind of foods should I be giving him?
