scheduled c-section and doulas?

if you had a scheduled c-section and choose to have a doula i have a few questions

~why did you choose to have a doula with your c-section?

~what benefits did she provide? what did she do for you?

~were you happy with the service she provided? (did she do all you expected? what else did you want that wasnt done?)

~would you hire a doula again if you were having another c-section?

I'm interested in reading this also- in our area a doula is not allowed in the OR or the recovery room. I think there could be some real benefits to hiring a doula (at a reduced rate) for a c-section birth, but I don't know of anyone who has. A doula could help mom to plan her birth and to facilitate bonding and breastfeeding, as well as maybe checking up more often post-partum than with a vaginal birth if the mom desired it. At least those are my thoughts I had a client who was planning a VBAC, then ended up planning a c-section and feeling like she didn't need a doula, then ended up with a surprise VBAC after all. I was happy for her but sad that I missed it!

i have been talking with a doula/childbirth instructor and she offered her services if i did do a c/s...i was realyl confussed and didn't know what to say...i guess i have never thought about i before but now that I ahve had time to think about it might be good...just not 100% on it...so i will be watching this thread to see what others say
