Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I worked the day before I had DS, and plan to work until I go into labor with this babe.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

With my first pregnancy, I taught school so I had the summer off' and my daughter was born in September. With preg #2, I plan to work until I have the baby. I'm planning on reducing my hours so that I can have time to work on the baby's room and organize my house! I think that will help keep me sane during postpartum. Being organized will help ease the stress.

I worked until the end, but both of my boys came early at 36 wks, 5/6days. My 2nd boy: I left work at 1pm with contractions and had him in an ambulance in front of the house at 3:26pm, so yeah, I probably should have left work a bit earlier, but I wasn't even sure I was in labor. LOL!

I worked up to the day before birth/labor starting with both boys. The first time it was planned since I was a scheduled C for breach, the second one I was hoping to get a week or two of downtime since I went out 2 weeks early. Labor started 7 hours after I left the office.

I worked up untill about 2 weeks before. I was having issues with high blood pressure and my doctor ordered me to stay on bedrest.
Off topic but my baby was born on the exact due date they gave me after my 6 week ultrasound.

With DD, I was due on a Monday so I decided the Friday before would be my last day. I went into labor on that Monday and she was born the following day.

With DS, I wanted to give myself a couple weeks to spend with DD and mentally prepare for the new baby. So I took off 38 weeks. He was born a week late so by then I was twiddling my thumbs wishing I did work at least another week.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

My babies come early and with my last, I worked an 8 hour day at 38 weeks and went into labor that night. I wish I would have stopped at 38 weeks because I quit that day to be a SAHM so maternity leave time was not an issue. I ended up giving into an epidural due to exhaustion, I just had nothing left in me, and I wonder if it would have gone differently if I had not worked that day.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I worked a regular day (at the office) the day before DD was born. I was working at home when pregnant with DS so I ended up working till late in the evening the night before I had to go in for my induction. I did ask someone to fax something for me that morning at the hospital - but that doesn't really count.

I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I worked until my water broke during a delivery! I did go home for a while before I came back as a patient.
