Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

with both of mine, I worked until the day of induction. They were both induced a bit early (dd 4 days, ds, 1 wk 3 days) due to IUGR and beginning signs of pre-eclampsia. I was planning to work until they were born with both, and would have been happy to continue working past my due date.

With DD, I worked right up until the day I was induced - worked a half day in the morning and induced that night and had DD the next morning. I plan on doing the same with baby #2 but I don't want to be induced this time around!

I worked until my due date estimated by my ultrasound (a few days after my estimate by dates). DS came a week late, but it was actually really nice to spend a few days at home resting and prepping.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I worked until 2 weeks before my due date ... but I had SEVERE edema for the last month and a half of pregnancy; I even have -stretch marks- on my legs from where they swelled so bad. My doctor was one of those "big box" doctors and never really seemed interested in my welfare. I routinely had to pick things up at work that were 20-40 lbs, and had to stand on my feet ALL day. My workplace wouldn't allow me to sit except for my break. It was all a rather ridiculous affair.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say that with each of mine I worked literally until the day they were born. With my last one, I dropped off the older kids at school, felt the first contraction, and kept on driving in to work. I had things I knew I had to get done and figured I had several hours. My husband and midwife actually beat me home! People kept walking by my desk and telling me to go home, but I was timing contractions and I knew I still had time

I was also back at work at 2 days PP, but that's only because we are a family business and my kids go to work with me

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

Last time, I went into labor at work, 10 days overdue. The time before that I took off at 39 weeks because I had a really awful cough I couldn't kick.

ETA I worked that long by choice. My OB would have let me take off at any time.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I worked 2 weeks past my due date. Because I was late, we had everything prepared and I was literally looking at the clock all day of my first leave day, so I just went back in. The worst part of working and being really PG is that EVERYONE says "Still haven't had that baby yet?" But that started like 1mo before my due date, so I think it is unavoidable.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

With my first I worked up until the day I was induced. I had a growth u/s scheduled 5 days past due date. I took just the morning off for that but had to call to say baby's coming bc dr sent me to l&d for induction for having very low fluid.

My 2nd was repeat scheduled csection and worked right up until that date, granted it was a week before due date
