Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I teach part time. With #1 I worked until the end of the semester, which was her official due date but M came late. With #2, I worked till about 2 weeks before his due date (again when my classes end). Expecting #3, will work till about a month before the due date as that is the class schedule I was able to work out.

I also am trying to do an at home craft business, so anytime I'm not working or taking care of the kids, I devote to that So I guess even when I'm officially 'off work' I'll still be working till I go into labor.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

With #1, I planned on working till the due date. There were some concerns over my blood pressure (somewhat irratic but no preeclampsia) I was advised to work from home the week prior to my due date which I had planned on doing however, DS1 came 1 week early.
We're expecting #2 at the end of Nov and am planning to work till the due date....only because I have the flexibility in my work schedule to do so and out of home that is. I've always worried about water breaking at the office so this eases the anxiety.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

My plan all along was to work right up until I delivered. I had 12 weeks to use for maternity leave and wanted it all with the baby. I ended up delivering at 31 weeks, so I indeed worked up until I delivered.

With my first I actually worked until after his due date. Went home a little early in the afternoon on day 13 after his due date because lunch really did a number on my stomach and had him later that night.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I stopped working a week before due date. I was willing to work till the due date but there was holiday season so I gave myself some benefit.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

#1, worked until work closed for holidays (then went into labor)

#2 was walking through security at work at lunch time... walked to a friends office, she came with me to another building to my desk (I made phone calls) and we walked to my garage and went to daycare to p/u DD. my boss who has no kids gave me the award for working the longest I was driven directly to the hospital.

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

I know this is an old post but I cannot help but answer

With my first three I worked until I was 39 weeks. With #1 I went over by 10 days. #2 I delivered at 39 weeks. #3 del the day after my "last" day 39 weeks.

With baby #4 I really really wanted to work through my last weekend (39.5 weeks). I work in labor and delivery. I had TWO deliveries that day. Yes TWO. I worked hard lol. My pediatrician came in to eval babies around noon and said "wow you have dropped since yesterday!" My coworker put me on the monitor for her own peace of mind. I had two contractions in 30 minutes... so obviously NOT in labor. This was after lunch around 2pm. By 6pm I was starting to think maybe just maybe I was in labor. Some cramping, not hungry, a little cranky. I worked through my shift cause I actually came to work with my coworker. I punched out at 7:30 and by then I was breathing through contractions, she was afraid my water would break in her car! I got home, showered. Returned to the hospital... 9cm. My doc was a little miffed that I had even left the hospital but I wanted to see my kids, shower, get my stuff together. She missed the delivery (But hey she missed #3 too so it wasn't that much different).

Re: How close to due date did you keep working?

With my DD, I worked until 1 day past my due date. With DS, I worked until 5 days past my due date. I am lucky, though, because I was able to work from home some at the end. That helped a lot.
