Taking dandelion root capsules was the only thing to calm it down. My PUPPS did not fully go away until 7 mos pp.
This happened to me as well. It was just my belly before birth. By the time I left the hospital it was everywhere but my mouth & soles of my feet. And where the disposable pads rubbed? 6885 times worse. My OB could only say it must be a reaction to Ancef (the antibiotic they gave me for a fever of less than 100*), and sent me to a derm. It was hell.

Re: Going crazy from the itching!!

Are you having a boy? I itched like CRAZY with my boy.... but it wasn't PUPPPS or anything. I remembering reading something like 70% of PUPPPs cases are with women carrying boys - something about the hormones from boys....

I didn't have pupps but I itched like that when I was pregnant with my son. I have a scar where I scratched so much. I used a homemade lotion that someone gave me, if if like I could get it for you. It's the only thing that helped mine

Yup, having a boy. And the itching of my c-section scar is the worst! But so far, coconut oil seems to be helping some! Must just be all the stretching...at least, I hope it is nothing more serious!

Try the coco butter and don't scratch at it rub it. It helps to feel better and if you scratch it you can end up with stretch marks :/

The only thing that works for me is olive oil. Coconut oil doesn't work for me, it has to be olive oil.

Is it true that scratching causes stretch marks? I've never heard of it.. Eeek!

No.

Stretch marks come from the fibers of the skin being stretched so much they tear. Scratching doesn't have enough force to do anything, its just when your skin has to cover more body all of a sudden.

And nothing can really prevent them except genetics, and nothing much repairs them but made treatment.

For the itching, try Sarna lotion, usually in the pharmacy section. Moisture helps, as does avoiding things that irritate, but it's mostly the nerves being ticked off from all the skin changes.

Re: Going crazy from the itching!!

I'm normally pretty into natural things, but nothing was working (epsom salts, coconut oil, cocoa butter, etc.), so I finally went to Gold Bond's Ultimate Healing lotion. It was a lifesaver. Once I got the itchiness under control, I stopped using that and just used almond oil.
