We did just this year with my 3yr old. Great results and I wished we'd done it earlier!

Re: Tongue tie surgery

I had it done for my most recent baby at 2 wks. by the ENT. I held her, they numbed her tongue with a swab, and made a quick clip. No bleeding and she didn't cry. I was nursing her less than 3 minutes later. It was no big deal at all, and helped tremendously with her nursing.

DS1 had his done by an ENT at about 2 weeks old. He didn't even cry.

DS2 had his done before we were discharged from the hospital.

Just wanted to know if it would be painful for him , any bleeding and aftercare. But it seems pretty simple. Yes an ENT will be doing it. He is 8 weeks old and a great eater his latch is aweful though.. Very painful for me since he cant open very wide. Well thank you all! Great to know

This was pretty much our experience. A drop of 2 of blood Was all, and nursed immediately after. He cried more when the lidocaine was being applied to numb the area than he did when it was actually clipped. I noticed an immediate difference nursing.

Re: Tongue tie surgery

my dad had this done as a child, he was old enough to remember having it done, he said it was not a big deal, they numbed it and snipped it! I have heard that the tongue is the fastest healing organ in the body I have a tight tongue, not enough to have as speech impediment or surgery but I cant stick out my tongue lol :P
