Take a freaking nap already!

12:00 DS rubs eyes, gets glazed look
12:05 lay DS down, tuck blanket in, turn on white noise
12:10 Check monitor
12:11 Go into nursery and remove blanket from over DS's face. DS happily squeals with delight. Retuck blanket
12:15 check monitor
12:16 Go into nursery and remove blanket from over DS'd face. DS happily squeals with delight
12:25 Check monitor
12:30 Get DS up, since he's rolling around and shrieking
12:35 Put DS in jumper, thinking he will tire himself out
12:45 Cranky crying and tired signals
12:50 Lay DS in crib, white noise, tuck in blanket
12:55 Check monitor. Go into nursery and remove blanket from face. Take blanket out of crib
1:00 Check monitor. DS continues to roll around
1:05 Pick DS up and rock him. DS screams with protest. Try to hold DS down to calm him.
1:10 DS appears sleepy
1:15 Lay DS in crib. Tuck blanket in
1:20 Check monitor. Paci has fallen out. DS screams bloody murder
1:21 Replace paci
1:25 check monitor. Go into nursery and remove blanket from DS' face.

I. AM. EXHAUSTED.

Just had to vent.

So, he's loving this little blanket game he has with you! I'm sure he's figured out that you'll come in and fix it for him. How about one of those sleep sack/wearable blanket things instead?

Ugh I know. But it's just a nap!! Putting him a sleep sack is such a process lol..

And, of course, he naps at daycare 1.5-2 hours twice every day with no fussing and she tucks a blanket over him, too. Except he never moves that one

Re: Take a freaking nap already!

it's a process? I just throw the sleep sack over her clothes and lay her down.
takes... 30 seconds? or maybe you were joking? I'm not always good at knowing.

anyways.. My kiddo has almost always needed 30minutes to an hour of crib decompression time. She clearly wants to be put down, she is unconsolable until she's put down, then she's happy and rolly and playing.

I used to stress it, now I've figured out it's just part of her process. I used to decide she didn't want a nap, take her out and then she's upset again.

possibly he goes down easier at daycare because he's more tired due to more stimuli with all the other kids running around?

Re: Take a freaking nap already!

Gah! I had one of those days today. Normally, my DS is a great napper. He grabs my hand around noon, drags me too his crib, and asks to sleep. Today, I put him down at 12:30 and he was quiet for 30 minutes so I assumed he was sleeping. Nope, all of a sudden I heard squeals of joy and the sound of his beloved stuffed bunny being ejected from the crib. When I went in, he had managed to reach two of his books off of the story-time chair and had systematically shredded them. When he was finished, he squealed and called "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy" and that was the end of nap time.

He was a crazed demon toddler all afternoon. It was as if someone had given my usually calm and collected baby a club pack of pixie sticks. Then, at 4:00, just as DH was getting home and I was getting ready to head out to work, he grabbed my hand, took me to the crib, and promptly went to sleep. :banghead

Why don't you just leave him until he falls asleep? My DD will play in her room for an hour to an hour and a half told she passes out. Your lo doesn't sound upset, so why not just leave him to fall asleep?
