Question What to do with a HUGE bag of KALE?

I got this bag for a recipe and I only needed a little of it.. of course my store only had this bag, no small bunches I could have bought. Even though I used WAY more than the recipe called for I still have a majority of this bag left... what else can I use it in/for?

I second kale chips! You could make kale soup. I think there is a Portuguese broth version but the one I made was kinda like a chowder or risotto. I just tried searching for it but cannot remember the exact name. I got it from a Sunday paper and if I can find the recipe, I will post.

I love kale salad with avocado.

Wash and tear the kale into bitsize chunks. Dry ti well and put it in a gallon bag with avocado (1/4 to 1/2 avocado per serving) with a good squeeze of lemon juice (probably 1/4 lemon per serving) and a pinch of salt. Mash it all together until the avocado is creamy and coating all the leaves. serve. YUM!

One of the gals on here has a website-plant food fabulous and she has a great spinach and kale lasagna recipe. If I have some to eat up I just sauté it and throw it into all sorts of things, grilled cheese, omeletes, soup. I also agree with kale chips.

Re: What to do with a HUGE bag of KALE?

green smoothies? I swear to you on my children's lives that my 4 year old who refuses to eat most veggies(other than carrots and peas) just drank all my smoothie minus 2 sips. Literally two minutes ago. I put in 1 cup of milk, 1 scoop of protein powder, 3 kid-size handfuls of spinach, 1/3 cup leftover BaNilla Stoneyfield Farms yogurt from the fridge, and like maybe 6 or 7 frozen strawberries. And just blended it up and offered her a taste and as I'm making a cup of coffee for myself. I turn around and she's tipping the cup all the way back banging on the end trying to get the last drops. No lie. And kale is awesome in green smoothies.

I freeze mine to use later.

I make Zuppa Toscana

1/2 cup diced onion
2-4 chopped potatoes
2 cups chopped kale
1 lbs sausage (ground & browned)
4-6cups Chicken Broth
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Optional 1 cup heavy cream or milk

Brown sausage and onion in stock pot. Sprinkle with cayenne pepper. Fill pot with chicken broth, add potatoes, simmer for 30 min or until potatoes are soft. Add kale and heavy cream/milk (if desired).

Yum! Im eating a bowl right now! Ha

second the chop it all and put it in zips in the freezer.

brown ground beef, drain. add a can of dice tomatoes (u can use the spicy can too)add taco seasoning. add the Kale and stirr. Cover and let it simmer till kale looks cooked (15 min) enough time to start and cook your rice. serve over rice! yum!
that was the fist thing I did when we were part of a CSA last yr.

Then I just added it to everything. even to salads at the end.
