Healthy Eating Out the Window

I usually try to cook somewhat healthily... limit sodium and butter, always prepare a veggie on the side, eat a full serving of the veggie in front of my toddler to show her how it's done... but this pregnancy is throwing me for a loop. I crave mac 'n cheese. Not Annie's, no, Kraft. And I can't put just a little bit of olive oil or margarine in it like I usually do, oh no, give me those two whole tablespoons of BUTTER. Cook some veggies? Nope. Veggies take up valuable macaroni space in my tummy.

I shake my head at the lesson I'm teaching my 21-month old, but I can't stop myself. As opposed to once a month or so, we're now eating mac 'n cheese once (or twice) a week. I make green smoothies on non-macaroni days to try to make up for it. :-(

Anyone else find themselves throwing healthy eating out the window?

I'm with you! We usually try to have salad with every meal and eat mostly vegetarian. I can't handle the thought of salad. I'm eating such delights as ramen noodles and I'm craving spicy chicken sandwiches and stouffer's mac and cheese (full of sodium). I am able to eat fruit and try to make healthy milkshakes and drink my carrot juice when I can but it's really hard right now. I'm not usually prone to nausea or morning sickness but this baby (#6) is throwing me for a loop. Hopefully in another few weeks we'll be back on track. My kids are much older and they just know that this is a phase with me. Don't worry, you won't ruin your toddler!

My first trimester was a 180 on my eating habits! I used to eat primally, mostly salads. Then I got pregnant and craved bread and fried foods and cheese. Lots and lots of cheese! What I really was craving was salt, because my body didn't have enough. Once I fixed that problem...I began craving sweets! So I ate fruit instead.
