Hello everyone,
My little dude arrived on January 17th at 7:43 am. His full name is Arthur Jackson-Timmons. No middle name as he has a hyphenated last name. He was 6 lbs 11oz and 20.5 inches long.
He came into the world quickly. I was having contractions starting around 1-2 am, that weren't going away. By 4 am they were 5 minutes apart for over an hour and I lost some mucous plug with a bit of brown blood in it, so I called to see if if I should go get checked out. The nurse said I could. We got into the hospital at 5:30 and I was hooked up to the monitor. However once the contraction would stop, the baby's heart rate went way down. After trying to change positions, and it wasn't helping, various doctors were called in and I was on my way to an emergency c-section. It was very scary, especially since the nurse had to try 4 places to get an IV to stay in, and I kept hearing the monitor go off, with each contraction, as his heart rate dropped. The doctor didn't take time to do a spinal, said the 15 minutes it would take to get it in was too precious so I was put under general anaesthetic, no time for shave or anything. He was born at 7:43am and I woke up a bit before 9. After recovering I got taken to my room. On the way I asked if I had a boy or girl, they told me a little boy, but he was in the NICU. There was meconium in the amniotic fluid, and his blood sugar was low. He had to get some oxygen and suctioned out. I was in my room at 9:30 but didn't get to meet him until about 12:30. Dwayne was able to be with him, until I got out of recovery, and that made me feel well. So he spent a bit over 24 hours in NICU, being brought to me to feed. Then we got him in with us. He's such a great nurser and loves being cuddled and held, as most little ones do. We are home now and working on settling down after a big affair! I am feeling pretty good, still sore obviously, but am very mobile and Dwayne is an amazing father, he is so helpful and wonderful.
