dumb (?) question ...

ok, so i am aware the threat of miscarriage goes down after 12 weeks...
heres my question..

is it 12 weeks from your last period or 12 weeks of actually being pregnant?

i'm thinking/hoping its from your last period.... but asking you ladies (and will also ask my dr on friday as well.)

Re: dumb (?) question ...

I think it is 12 weeks from your period (as this is how the pregnancy weeks are calculated).

Re: dumb (?) question ...

Okay, but what if you ovulate late? From my LMP I should be 8 weeks tomorrow, but by an early ultrasound and my conception date I'm actually 7 weeks tomorrow. So wouldn't it be when you are truly 12 weeks pregnant? If you're dates/ultrasound lines up with your LMP then it that method would work fine.

If you don't know your ovulation date and/or haven't had a dating ultrasound (or you have had one and it agrees with your LMP) then going by LMP is fine. Otherwise go by your conception/ultrasound date.

Try not to stress mama. Easier said thendone, as I've been stressing big time too. Good luck!

Re: dumb (?) question ...

i have an ultrasound friday so that will ease my mind and confirm dates.. i'm pretty sure of my ovulation date(was using opk's), and it was exactly 2 weeks after my last period. so going by that things should be on track. but yeah, i'll find out for sure friday.
but i wasn't sure of how the 12 week threat of miscarriage was actually timed.
i dont know why i'm nervous with this pregnancy. with my son i wasn't this nervous. but i had had a miscarriage shortly before becoming pregnant with him and i think i was thinking that it cant happen again. plus they did an ultrasound then super early which helped ease things.

That's an exception.. but yes, it all means the same thing. I have delayed ovulation so I base it off of that.. it would be 10 weeks from O date, which would put me at 12 weeks pregnant.
