Opinions wanted

Posted this in Extra Fluffy but thought I'd try here too...

I'm making a Kumfy Schlüttli sleep sack (Liebkosung) and got to the cuff and thought to myself "wouldn't it be nice to have those little fold-back mitts on this so baby doesn't claw at himself?" Well, I've attempted to make one but I'm not sure what I think of it.

I'm considering frogging back and changing the cuff to k1p1 ribbing and doing the mitt. I'm not happy with the jog in the garter. Maybe just do stockinette and no real "cuff" between the sleeve and mitt? And then there's the length of the mitt--from the cuff to the tip it's 3 3/4". Too big for a 0-3m baby? And then, the final question--is it just totally ridiculous and I should get rid of it entirely?

What do you all think? Any and all advice/criticism is welcome. Thanks!
