is this JUST a teen thing or the autism?

OMG is all I've got to say!!! He's so pissy all the time. Ask him to brush his teeth and he complains, stomps feet, and slams doors....good God in heaven! Is this just a typical teenager thing or is it in part his autism ? He has PDD.

sounds like my 9 year old (PDD)...lol.

I'm sure it's a combo of both.

Lol! I'm just glad to hear I'm not alone. It's gotten worse a lot worse during the teen years.

Having PDD, or Autism, doesn't stop puberty and hormone fluctuations. Probably both. Good luck mama!

Re: is this JUST a teen thing or the autism?

I was complaining to my sister about my 15 yr old Aspies horrible behavior a few months ago and she chuckled and said that my aunt is also complaining about the same thing from her NT son of the same age. IDK, it kind of makes me feel better that it is "normal". My problem is I don't have the energy and patience for this since my ASD kids have been acting like hormonal teenagers nearly their whole life!!!! So when they actually hit that REAL teenage stuff, it just looks like their normal stuff but worse. That is my biggest challenge I think is that it just goes on and on and on and on. Moms weren't meant to deal with this behavior year after year, yk? We get a dose of patience for the terrible two's and anther one for the teen years. Thats all what we should have to do! ASD parents get stuck with the irrational moodiness for the whole freaking childhood. Its really not fair. Can you tell I have had a bad week?!?

Sounds just like my 10 year old (aspergers). It has been awful lately with the stomping, yelling, etc. whenever something doesn't go his way....
