How many pills do you need to take in a day and over what period of time in order to see an increase in production?

I started taking two pills, four times a day and saw an increase within 24 hours. I actually had TOO much milk. I'm down to one pill, three times a day, and this is perfect for me.

I think it affects everyone differently. I know that a lot of moms have gained weight on it, but I haven't. It's been pretty win/win for me, and I am grateful!

I took 16 pills per day (4 pills, 4 times daily) and it took me about 8 weeks to see the full increase - from 4oz/day to 12-14oz/day. The increase was really only a few mL per pumping session and happened really gradually.

ETA: I took it for 6 months, and within a couple weeks of stopping, I was back down to 4oz/day.

I think it does vary for each person...I noticed a difference within 24hrs but it took a couple days to get the full increase. I started with 3 pills 3 X day -- but only because I had taken it with a previous baby and knew that was most likely what I would need. Now that my little one is nursing well on her own and helping stimulate my supply I have been trying to decrease, but, lerned the hard way to do so verrrrrrrrry slowly.

The Newman Protocol for Increasing Lactation suggests starting out with 3 pills 3x a day. They suggest giving that 3 weeks and if that isn't enough upping it to 4 pills 4x a day.

I am taking 3 pills 3x a day and it took about 2-3 weeks for me to notice a difference.
